To those who are familiar with the needs of the sick perhaps nothing is more appreciated than the work of a proficient nurse who is capable of providing all the tender care a patient could need to speed his recovery. Such is the Christian Science nurse who works with those relying exclusively on Christian Science for healing.

The prophet Elisha seems to have brought aid and support to many people of Israel who came to him in trouble, but he did not limit his kindly ministrations to those of his own nation, as evidenced by his dealings with Naaman, a noted general in the army of the king of Syria. In spite of his valor and his influence at court, Naaman was afflicted with the dread disease of leprosy.

If one wishes to be successful in a line of endeavor, he must adhere strictly to the rules. When one is working out problems in mathematics, not the slightest divergence from the rules is admissible.

Divine Love and the source of true being are one and the same. Mankind recognizes this in a degree in its groping for both at once.

The active Christian Scientist is not indifferent to problems, either the world's or his own. Like many of his fellowmen he is engaged in solving them and is usually deeply, sincerely committed to do so.

Today the evils of crime and licentiousness appear in the world in some of the most unbelievable and shocking forms. No longer can any individual afford to be ignorant of or callous to the worldwide crime problem, nor should he stand helplessly aside or recoil from duty while immorality brazenly threatens to infest all that is good and pure.

The politics of divine Mind, its Science of government, is included in the completeness of spiritual being. Since Mind, God, is Spirit and omnipresent, this one Spirit must be acknowledged as the governing factor in the affairs of men and nations.

In thinking about national elections, students of Christian Science may ask themselves what they can do spiritually to further the development of enlightened government and how they can reverse the tide of negative thinking that frequently surrounds what should be a rich human experience. Clearly, the role of citizen and voter needs to be reexamined in the light of a higher, more spiritual concept, which Christian Science presents.
