‘The symptoms disappeared’

More than once I have walked into a Christian Science church service with a problem and walked out with a solution. So this year, when I wasn’t feeling well prior to a Sunday service, I didn’t hesitate about going to the service expecting to be healed.

Inspiration from the midwest church alive summit

The Summit helped participants evaluate what is mandated and what is traditional in how we model our churches and their activities. Best of all, the underlying theme focused on looking at what we are doing in order to bring the freshness of Spirit to all that we do in and for church—keeping it all “abreast of the times” ( Church Manual, p.

Church alive--yesterday, today, and always!

It is amazing to ponder the tremendous growth of Christianity from just one man, Christ Jesus, to the more than two billion Christians today. What caused the early Christian church to multiply in such numbers? Would you like to be part of a church that is flexible, inclusive, approving, happy, and trying new things? Then try this: Take possession of your church experience—more consciously be the church you’d like to be part of. You’re probably used to the responsibility and practice of taking possession of your thoughts and your body.

A gentle shift forward

“Church Alive” is the perfect description of the branch church my husband and I belong to in St. Louis, Missouri.

New views of church

Upon reading the articles on Church in the October 2010 issue of the Journal, I was so moved that I felt impelled to share an experience that showed the power of the spiritual understanding of Church in my own life. Years ago, while I was teaching the youngest Sunday School class, there had been some difficulties concerning child behavior.
