In August and September 2010, Christian Scientists in Africa participated in TMC Youth Spiritual Activist Summits in Ghana and Nigeria. Here are some of the participants’ thoughts after attending the summits.
When I was asked to be a facilitator for a workshop on Primary class instruction, I wondered how things were going to be because my native language is French and I had not spoken to an English audience before. I was reminded of what God told Moses, who also had the same concern: “Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say” (Ex. 4:12). I did not have to be afraid because God was going to speak to the audience; I am His expression. I was so relieved that I was able to speak with my heart during the workshops.
On the first day of the Summit, we had very few participants, but I prayed to know that nothing could obscure the purpose of God, and that we all—as the children of God—are interested in everything that fosters our spiritual progress. Throughout the remaining two days, the number of the participants increased. I was so inspired by other facilitators who met the specific needs of people attending the French workshops.
After both Summits, I realized that we are all so needed in the Christian Science movement all over the world, but we have to sacrifice whatever tries to prevent us from committing ourselves fully to the healing mission of Christian Science. Of course, the interesting thing is that Christian Science has empowered us to fulfill this task!
