Poems

Beyond the valley

From the April 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

You know me like Your favorite song,
an open book, a page turned wrong . . .
I’ve waited, oh, so many years to find You loved me all along.

I’ve found myself in stranger places,
I took hold of Your good graces,
Clung to them through countless faces,
Your love is oh, so strong.

My rock, my tower, my best friend,
compassionate right to the end of
long dark days and tear-filled hours.
Who could comprehend

Your faith in me? Your Word is true,
What I can’t see, I trust to You.
You’re with me when I dance on clouds,
bed down in hell—You’re with me now.

Forever holding me somehow—
You’ve loved me all along.
