Testimonies of Healing

About eighteen years ago, during a period of physical suffering, I became very much discouraged because the remedies prescribed by physicians brought no relief. Then Christian Science was recommended.

I first heard of Christian Science about thirty years ago, and nineteen years ago, when in California, I met a lady who told me about a wonderful healing she had experienced as a result of reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

When material means had failed to give even temporary relief from constant suffering, I turned to Christian Science as the alternative to self-destruction. Sometime during the half hour's return trip from the practitioner's home the intense pain was relieved, and in a week there was marked improvement and freedom from pain.

Words are inadequate to tell all that Christian Science has done for me. I had known of this religion for many years, but not until I was in a condition where everything looked hopeless and I was suffering from extreme nervousness and sleeplessness, did the thought come to me to have treatment.

Words fail to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done and is doing for me. Over two years ago, when all material remedies failed to give me any relief, I turned to Christian Science for help and in the first treatment received such peace and comfort that I immediately gave up all material remedies.

In October, 1916, I was obliged to give up my home and go to bed for three months, owing to so-called exophthalmic goiter. After having treatment from a specialist I was no better, although allowed up for a few hours each day.

For some time I have desired to add my word of thanks for the great benefit I have received from Christian Science. The study was not taken up for physical healing but in the search for something that was satisfying and practical.

I hope that this testimony of my awakening from a continual dream of pain, misery, and fear may encourage others who are looking for help. All my life I had suffered untold misery from stomach trouble and various complications, sometimes being in bed a week at a time with high fever and in constant pain.

It is my desire to say how thankful I am for even a very slight knowledge of Christian Science. I have been healed of a lump on one eyelid, which had resulted from a slight operation, and of serious eye trouble, which necessitated the use of glasses at all times.

With gratitude I testify to the power of Truth. In the winter of 1914 we rented furnished rooms at the home of a Christian Science practitioner.
