Testimonies of Healing

I was sitting on the curbstone one day, when suddenly I became very ill; but managed to crawl, rather than walk, to a doctor's office, and after an examination he told me I was in a very serious condition and had not long to live. Having no money or friends, I was sent by ambulance to the county hospital and placed in a consumptive ward.

I am grateful every hour for the health, happiness, and peace which have come to me through Christian Science. For twelve years I was subject to intense headaches, and during the summer months severe attacks from the heat, as I had a very serious sun-stroke from which I was not expected to recover.

I Would like to tell how I was healed of an abnormal growth without treatment. At the time I made the alarming discovery, I said nothing to any one, and tried to rid myself of fear by keeping it out of my thought.

At the first Wednesday evening meeting I attended, a gentleman spoke about Christian Science as having enabled him to overcome financial difficulties. The testimonies of healing seemed ridiculous to me, but the above statement was the climax; still I was impressed with the beautiful and simple service and left the hall with a mixed feeling of doubt and hope.

It is difficult for me to give the particular reason for which I feel most grateful that the understanding of Christian Science has come into my life; whether it is for the light which it throws on the Bible, or for improvement in physical conditions, or for the aid it gives in purifying and improving the character. Nearly two and a half years ago, while living at Heidelberg, a friend from Scotland came to spend a few weeks with me in the mountains.

I came into Christian Science through the healing of one I love — seeing her strong after years of suffering — but the physical healing is small compared to the spiritual development — like the opening of a flower. Such sweetness and tenderness and strength.

My daughter's healing in Christian Science was remarkable. Her case was of long standing and considered hopeless.

Two and a half years ago I was a physical and mental wreck from stomach and bowel trouble in its worst form. I had doctored with some of the most eminent physicians for two years.

Words cannot tell all that Christian Science has done for me. It came to me in a time of sore need, when all material means had been tried and had failed.

In testifying to the benefits I have received from the study and application of Christian Science, I desire to render thanks to Almighty God, — the Principle of all good, — and to the noble woman who received the healing message and recorded the truth, with rules for its application to the needs of humanity. A message of such vital import—a divine revelation—surely demands the attention of suffering, sick, and sinning mortals, and their healing must of necessity cause expressions of thanks to the bearer of the message, Mrs.
