Testimonies of Healing

In the spring of 1889 I had been under the care of two physicians of this city nearly all the time for five years, and all the time for three years. During these last years I had grown steadily worse, until I was very thin and in an extremely nervous condition, and could scarcely eat or sleep.

I first looked to Christian Science for the removal of physical and moral ills from which I had been unable to find relief in any other quarter. I had for a long time been a victim of the liquor habit and during later years had more and more frequently drank to excess.

It is with a heart full of gratitude to God for all Christian Science has done for me, that I give this account of my experiences before I was healed. I was afflicted from childhood with ill health, and for over twenty years had suffered with almost every disease that could be thought of.

If any one has reason to be grateful for Christian Science, I am that person. Like Mary Magdalene, I have much to be grateful for, as much has been forgiven me.

It is now ten years since I came to Christian Science for healing. My trouble was pronounced a most serious form of kidney disease.

For about six years I was subject to very severe pains in my head. These attacks were frequent and I was often confined to my bed from one to two weeks.

For six years I was a great sufferer, and was under a physician's care practically all the time. During this illness, six of the most eminent physicians of this city were employed, and they not only failed to give me any relief, but also to agree upon a diagnosis of my case.

On Christmas day, 1904, my physician told me it was no use to send for him any more, that he had done everything that medical science could suggest and that nothing seemed to do me any good. After he left me I wrote to an aunt in Ohio and asked her to have her Christian Science friends pray for me, and that as soon as I could travel I would come to her.

I had been in poor health for fourteen years, gradually growing worse, and for the last six years of that time was a great sufferer. My case was differently diagnosed by every physician.

I gladly give my testimony as to what Christian Science has done for me. I came to it for physical healing; little thinking what divine Love had in store for me.
