Testimonies of Healing
After having been under the care of different physicians for several years, I was healed by Christian Science, in less than a week, of what the physicians had called abnormal growths. I had been under the constant care of a physician for four months, most of the time in bed.
Seven years ago Christian Science found me in a serious mental and physical condition. My nervous system seemed to be completely upset, while I was also suffering from organic difficulties.
Fourteen years ago I met with an accident which caused me to lose the use of my right limb, and for two years I was unable to walk. At the time of this accident I was living in Callaway, Neb.
After nine years of investigation, critical analysis application and demonstration of Christian Science, I wish to humbly express my gratitude for its wonderful revelation of Truth. When my attention was first called to this subject by a friend who had received help, I attended some lectures, then bought a copy of the text-book and read it with what I supposed was understanding.
For a long time I have felt that I must give my testimony and tell what God in His goodness has done for me. When I was a child nine years old I had an illness which left me with spinal trouble.
In 1896 I met with an accident in which my left arm was severely injured. A surgeon set the joint, but it did not stay in place.
In February, 1902, I made application for life insurance. , and in due course of time was obliged to submit to a physical examination by the medical representative of the insurance company, with the result that an adverse report was made on my application, on the ground that there was a diseased condition of the kidneys.
When a child I was severely injured by being thrown from a horse. From that time on, for nine years, I was never free from severe pain, and was confined to my bed part of the time each year.
It is over three years since I first heard of Christian Science and began to study it. For several years prior to that time I had been in a constant state of wretchedness and ill health, with various physical disorders and a mental state that bordered on melancholia, until it seemed that existence was made up of little else than pain, discord, perplexity, aimlessness, and endless disappointments,—in fact a miserable failure.
I should like to express in some measure my great gratitude for Christian Science and all that it has done for me, physically, mentally, and morally. I have been a student of Christian Science for four years, and they have been the happiest and most profitable years of my life.
