Testimonies of Healing

This testimony is long overdue. The teachings of Christian Science have been my way of life for many years; I found them as a young adult, and have had their joy all my married life.

In Psalms we read: "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me" ( 139:7-10 ).

The Sunday before Christmas 1992 it was my turn to do the floral arrangements for our church service. We had a houseful of family and friends on holidays.

Both my husband and I had spent little time with babies or small children, so when we decided to become parents we felt we had entered unfamiliar territory. My doubts and questions began with the pregnancy.

A recent advertisement I saw for Science and Health said this: "People have found moral and spiritual strength by reading this book. They have also had healings of mental and physical diseases, financial burdens, and unhappy relationships.

I was introduced to Christian Science in 1952, and when I began to study it my life opened to a new chapter. I was a young mother with a husband and three children, not much money, and a desperate need to know God.

During World War II I had a marvelous healing, and subsequently gave a rotten testimony about it in church. But frankly, over the years the "blown" testimony has been much more instructive and blessing than the healing.

During a family ski trip I took a pretty hard fall, twisting my knee. I found I could not even stand.

Through the years I have found that an excellent way to grow in the understanding and demonstration of Christ Jesus' teachings is by participating consistently in church activity. All of the various activities I've undertaken for church have required much time and prayer, but they also have brought me lots of joy, spiritual growth, and healing.

Although I have been a Christian Scientist since preschool, this is the first time I have written to express gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me from my study of this practical religion. In high school, playing basketball on an outdoor court, I twisted my ankle severely.
