Testimonies of Healing

In the early years of my career as a ballet dancer, I frequently suffered from occupational illnesses and the fear of them. Despite medical treatments, they kept recurring.

Before finding Christian Science, I underwent chemotherapy. Later, when some of the cancer symptoms recurred, I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer.

I was raised in Christian Science. As a child I was given much help from my family and from my teachers in the Christian Science Sunday School.

When I was a young teen-ager, I joined one of the Protestant denominations in New England. I recall feeling uplifted by the knowledge that we are the beloved children of God.

Many years ago my brother, about two years old at the time, became seriously ill with scarlet fever and slipped into a coma. At this point the doctor told my mother he could do nothing more.

Christian Science first came to my attention while I was walking home from junior high school with a new friend. She told me that through her study of Christian Science she had been healed of various diseases.

At a time when I had gained some understanding of Christian Science, I spent a year in the area of the North Pole with my husband. He was conducting ice studies and surveying glaciers.

It has been seventeen years since I had a testimony published in one of the Christian Science periodicals. In the intervening years I've been blessed with numerous healings, but there are two that to me have been particularly valuable as evidences of God's power to heal.

Several years ago, as a result of a freeway accident, I was taken unconscious to a small hospital in the suburb of Los Angeles to which I had recently moved. A diagnosis there stated I had an injured knee, facial lacerations, a cerebral concussion, and broken ribs.

I submit my testimony in gratitude for and praise of the one true God I have come to know and love through the study of Christian Science. I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School when I was young.
