Testimonies of Healing
While vacationing in the West Indies, I had the following scuba diving experience in remote and challenging circumstances. The islands I visited more or less encircle a protected area outside of which is open sea.
With deep gratitude for Christian Science, I wish to tell of a healing our daughter experienced as a teen-ager. During a summer vacation from high school, while employed at a nearby shop, our daughter came home at the end of her workday and suddenly collapsed on the floor.
Never had I been so aware of God's ever-presence until I began publishing a small weekly newspaper. My husband, who had started the paper, passed on, and an employee and her daughter tried to carry on.
Approximately two years ago I was working for a major airline carrier in Los Angeles. I worked as a lead rampman and performed the duties of loading and unloading aircraft cargo.
In 1969, before I had become a Christian Scientist, I injured my foot moving furniture. I lost the nail on the big toe, and the nail that grew in its place was deformed and half the size of the original.
Christian Science has blessed our family far beyond what we could ever record. For five generations it has shown us how to prove God's protection and guidance to be always available.
I would like to express my deep gratitude for two experiences that were milestones in my progress in Christian Science. The first occurred when I was in boot camp during the Second World War.
From earliest childhood I longed to understand God. I wanted to find a religion I could use every day, one that would answer my deepest questions and offer hope for salvation from the strife and suffering that dominated my childhood years.
I often like to begin my prayer for myself with this spiritual truth from Genesis in the Bible: God made man in His own image and likeness (see Gen. 1:26).
About three years ago, the nail of one of my big toes became ingrown. The condition was painful and affected the whole top of the toe.
