Testimonies of Healing

I was introduced to Christian Science when I was a teen-ager, and it has met my needs for sixty years. The first healing I had was of a severe case of astigmatism.

As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have always turned to God for healing. I was healed of smoking and of painful inflammation in my arms through coming to know that God is "a very present help in trouble.

My first testimony appeared in the March Journal in 1974. I continue to have many reasons to be deeply grateful for Christian Science.

In the early years of my career as a ballet dancer, I frequently suffered from occupational illnesses and the fear of them. Despite medical treatments, they kept recurring.

Before finding Christian Science, I underwent chemotherapy. Later, when some of the cancer symptoms recurred, I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer.

I was raised in Christian Science. As a child I was given much help from my family and from my teachers in the Christian Science Sunday School.

When I was a young teen-ager, I joined one of the Protestant denominations in New England. I recall feeling uplifted by the knowledge that we are the beloved children of God.

Many years ago my brother, about two years old at the time, became seriously ill with scarlet fever and slipped into a coma. At this point the doctor told my mother he could do nothing more.

Christian Science first came to my attention while I was walking home from junior high school with a new friend. She told me that through her study of Christian Science she had been healed of various diseases.
