Christian Science has been a blessing to me throughout my life. I am especially grateful for having been raised in a family where, because of my mother's dedication to Science, it was the normal practice to turn to God for help whenever a problem arose. I am also grateful for the benefit of instruction in a Christian Science Sunday School throughout my youth.
I had numerous healings during my childhood, which have been a source of help and encouragement in raising my own family. These healings included those of diseases commonly associated with childhood, the effects of accidents and sports injuries, and relationship difficulties.
One childhood experience I distinctly recall was a healing of poison ivy. Because I grew up in a small town in the country, it was normal activity for me to spend time playing in the surrounding woods and streams. I found, however, that I was apparently highly reactive to poison ivy. So I would make every effort to identify the plant and avoid it.
