Understanding the true destiny of man

From the February 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

All the mortal thinking and striving on this earth is based on a finite conception of man's being and destiny. Predominantly, people tend to occupy themselves with things that have a beginning and an end. Inasmuch as we conceive of ourselves as finite and material, we are maintaining a mortal outlook on life with all its attendant limitations.

What has led people to such a finite view is described by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health: "The material senses and human conceptions would translate spiritual ideas into material beliefs ...."Science and Health, p. 257.

The more finite and material the outlook, the more there is servitude to its limitations. Paul says, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey ...?"Rom. 6:16.
