From its founding, Christian Science was described not simply as a Church but as a new religious movement. It remains new in heart and spirit. As someone once said, "A movement moves." Articles on the subject of Church and movement appear regularly in this section.

Church infrastructure

From the February 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There have been references now and then in the news to the bad conditions of roads and bridges in the United States. The consensus is that the physical structure of our country needs to be repaired, strengthened, and made sound.

This started me thinking about the very important part the infrastructure of our Church plays in maintaining the soundness of Church itself. Part of the definition our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, gives of Church is "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle."Science and Health, p. 583.

This universal spiritual structure is completely sound, flawless, whole. But for God's kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven, this "structure of Truth and Love" cannot remain merely a perfect concept in thought. It must be incorporated into, and made practical in, our daily lives.
