Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science has given my life great enlightenment and enrichment. Rearing two children in this Science has brought joy, right relationships, and wonderful solutions to problems.

The Church of Christ, Scientist, has been my church home all my life. My mother was introduced to Christian Science by a friend when a postpartum infection threatened her life and her case was given up by physicians.

I wish to testify that since we started relying on Christian Science in our family over ten years ago, we have had the most wonderful, steady proof of God's care. One day several years ago, a big bottle of water fell from a shelf onto our very young daughter's foot, severing the tip of one toe.

I submit this testimony in hopes that it will encourage someone who might be feeling discouraged. The testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals have been a great source of strength to me during difficult times.

I was raised in Christian Science. This was an anchor that kept me from going too far astray through the years when I drifted in and out of church—not understanding at all the spiritual commitment required to be a Christian Scientist.

A friend and I went hiking on a snow-covered mountain in southern California. Because of the combination of warm days and below-freezing evening temperatures, many of the trails were covered with a sheet of ice.

I would like to share one of my experiences. It all happened like this.

Some years ago I was confined to bed with fever, hallucinations, lack of appetite, and an inability to stand, walk, or move my legs. I prayed for myself, and when I felt in need of prayerful assistance, I called a Christian Science practitioner.

When I was a teen-ager I felt unshakably convinced that divine Science is indeed the promised Comforter. In the words of Isaiah ( 30:21 ): "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
