Testimonies of Healing
Over the past five decades I have given many many testimonies of healing during Wednesday testimony meetings in branch Churches of Christ, Scientist. Yet this is the first testimony I have written for our periodicals.
Words cannot describe how it felt to be depressed every waking hour. I suffered anxiety, inferiority, loneliness, and guilt; also, I was a compulsive pleaser, cried a lot, and wallowed in self-pity.
After a spring break from college, a group of us were returning to the campus by automobile late one night. At the summit of a hill, an intoxicated driver who was on the wrong side of the highway driving about eighty miles an hour crashed into our vehicle.
This testimony is an outcome of my increasing gratitude in raising our two children. When I was a young mother, my mental and physical difficulties led me to the study of this Science.
During a visit to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned, X-rays revealed trouble. An eyetooth was so decayed, I was told, that a root-canal procedure would be necessary.
From early childhood I was raised in a Protestant church. Its teachings encouraged the development of moral character and a knowledge of God as a God of love, for which I am most grateful.
Each day, through the study and practice of Christian Science, I am becoming more aware of God's love for me and for all His children. One morning in 1987, a door was accidently closed on our small daughter's hand, crushing three of her fingers.
Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. " These words from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
" Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. " This statement from Romans perfectly summarizes what Christian Science means to me, and I would love to share a healing that took place through Science.
A written expression of my deep and sincere gratitude for Christian Science is long overdue. In 1960 I was released from the hospital to have Thanksgiving dinner with my family and friends.
