Testimonies of Healing

I visited a Christian Science Sunday School in my early teens, but my parents did not want me to remain as a regular pupil. However, while I was there I heard "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs.

It has been nearly sixty years since I was introduced to Christian Science through a friend who gave me copies of the Christian Science Sentinel . I read each issue avidly.

As a senior in high school, I was introduced to Christian Science by my best friend. We engaged in endless discussions because I had so many questions.

My mother was one of seven children, all of whom were raised on a farm in the early 1900s. Mother was the oldest and had to work very hard in the fields, in addition to playing the part of a second mother to the other children.

Having been raised with Christian Science in my home, I was lovingly cared for and guided into an understanding of God as Life, Truth, and Love. Many happy occurrences and great protection resulted from this understanding.

When I was in my early twenties, a young wife and mother, I became ill and was under the care of medical specialists all one summer. After many examinations and tests I was told I had three incurable diseases—enteritis, a heart condition, and a nervous condition.

I was introduced to Christian Science when I was a teen-ager, and it has met my needs for sixty years. The first healing I had was of a severe case of astigmatism.

As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have always turned to God for healing. I was healed of smoking and of painful inflammation in my arms through coming to know that God is "a very present help in trouble.

My first testimony appeared in the March Journal in 1974. I continue to have many reasons to be deeply grateful for Christian Science.
