Recently our family rented a one-room cabin...

From the May 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently our family rented a one-room cabin for a long weekend camping trip. Early the first evening I was splitting firewood when the ax I was using slipped off a log and down onto my right foot. There was intense pain and nausea, feelings I had experienced twice previously when I had broken a bone. On both occasions my foot had been placed in a cast and I was on crutches about eight weeks. That was before I knew of Christian Science healing.

Immediately I acknowledged that God is ever present and that man, His spiritual idea, cannot be harmed. The pain quickly passed, but I was not able to put any weight on the foot.

That night I barely slept. I didn't want to disturb or alarm my wife and two children, so I just quietly prayed.
