The very first Christian Science healing that occurred in our family was a healing I experienced as a child. At that time my parents had been introduced only recently to this Science by a Christian Science practitioner. When I suddenly became very ill, they feared for my life and called a doctor, who diagnosed diphtheria. He gave no medication but said he would return the next morning because I would have to be moved to a quarantine hospital in compliance with the law.
After he had gone, my parents began thinking of their newfound religion, Christian Science. They called their practitioner friend to ask for prayerful help. She reassured them that God's law of love was in operation.
Next morning when the doctor arrived I was happily playing, much to his surprise. After he examined me he stated that he didn't know what had been done, but that I was in perfect health and there was no sign of diphtheria. Then he departed. You can imagine the joy and gratitude of my parents!
