Testimonies of Healing

Both my parents were devout Christians, and I early became familiar with the words of the Bible and their literal meaning; but as I grew older I saw that not all who professed to follow the Bible did so in daily living. I thought the Bible was a beautiful book, but I began to look for worldly interests.

I am happy to witness to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. In rearing a family of eight children, my husband and I have found it to be a constant friend in need.

I was brought up in a Christian home and had always loved the Bible; but I had never felt I could understand it until I found Christian Science. It is a continuing joy to me to find that Science and Health by Mrs.

Some years ago I was working in an office the first three days of each week, and my mother, also a student of Christian Science, was taking care of my two children. When I arrived home one Wednesday afternoon, Mother said she thought I should call a practitioner to help my elder daughter, who was complaining of pain in her leg.

After the birth of our son, I suffered a nervous breakdown, and for the next two years I never knew what it was to feel well or to be joyous. One day when I was feeling very low and depressed, a friend and neighbor of short acquaintance called to ask me to help her with some curtains she was making.

I am very grateful for protection through Christian Science on a business trip. Prior to starting, I talked to a Christian Science practitioner about business trips and asked for his prayerful support of my efforts to bring a better sense of harmony into the activities.

Several years ago a testimony telling of my gratitude for Christian Science was printed in the Christian Science Sentinel. Since that time the continuing unfoldment of good and the many proofs of God's protection and love which I have experienced inspire me to express again that thankfulness which is in my heart.

I should like to express my gratitude for a healing of defective eyesight. I had been wearing glasses for two years and found that my eyesight was deteriorating.

Through the patient and loving help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed of alcoholism nine years ago. In twenty-five years of drinking, I was never able to control myself even after taking only one drink.

I was a sick, unhappy, very much depressed person when Christian Science was presented to me by a new neighbor, and I was greatly impressed by the joy expressed by Scientists when I attended my first lecture on Science. The peace and calmness possessed by the one who introduced the lecturer and who sat so still for over an hour on the platform were an inspiration to me, and I remember thinking that perhaps Science could help me, because I was very nervous and restless.
