Testimonies of Healing
This testimony is given with heartfelt praise and thanks to God for His countless blessings and wonderful protection. Some time ago I fell down a flight of stairs in the hall of my home, severely striking the side of my head and bruising many parts of my body.
" Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. " The greatest gift which divine Love has given me through the study of Christian Science is this faith which is certain of good, of Truth.
Eighteen years ago a simple statement of truth by a loving student of Christian Science led me out of darkness into light, and I should like to give earnest, grateful testimony to the fact that"to those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings"(Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, Pref.
I am indeed grateful to God, infinite good, and to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, for the many blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science; for a better understanding of God and man and their true relation. I may say with our beloved Leader, Mrs.
" Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. " Christian Science teaches us how to recognize and bring all our tithes unto God, and so to open the windows of harmony and banish all fear, sickness, lack, sin, and hate; and to know the absolute presence of perfection surrounding, enfolding, and protecting us constantly.
Over five years ago I was greatly hurt by a close friend's actions. For about three years after that I suffered in many ways, namely: much sickness and weakness, dizziness, severe headaches, and loss of weight.
For twenty years I have enjoyed and been grateful for the testimonies which appear in our periodicals. Many times they have encouraged and helped me to press on to victory when tempted by some form of error.
" To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings. " This first sentence in the Preface to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was clung to some years ago when my material, worldly sense of things was being shaken by adversity, and a complacency born of confidence in personal ability was gradually being changed to an understanding that "the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
I desire to make public acknowledgment of a healing which occurred some eighteen years ago. One Sunday evening my husband and I, with some relatives, were driving home from a near-by town, when the sudden application of the emergency brake caused the car to swerve into a ditch, hurling the occupants out on the roadside.
Twenty-four years ago my sister began studying Christian Science, but although we had been very close to each other she never mentioned the subject. This aroused my interest, and I tried to read the textbook.
