Testimonies of Healing

I can truthfully say that I am grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me. Existence would seem meaningless and poor indeed if it were not for the comfort, guidance, abundance, and protecting power which Christian Science has shown me that God has for all His children.

At a very early age, I rejected the thought of a personal God. My parents allowed me to think for myself where religion was concerned, and I began to search for an explanation of the supreme intelligence in which I believed.

I did not take up Christian Science for healing, although I needed it very much. I had been an invalid for three years with what the physicians called consumption.

I should like to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me and to my family in the ten years that I have been studying Christian Science. This truth was presented to me at a time when I was in a very critical condition.

I shall always be grateful for the thorough grounding in the Scriptures which I received as a member of an orthodox church. That foundation, however, proved insufficient to withstand the storms of doubt, criticism, and temptation that assailed my early manhood, and thus a period of infidelity followed.

With a heart full of deep gratitude I want to bear witness to all the blessings I have received through Christian Science. This Science was brought to my notice one day when I was in bed with an acute attack of enteritis.

With sincere appreciation of the teachings of Christian Science and their healing message I wish to offer this belated testimony. My parents became interested in Christian Science in 1902, at which time my father was literally raised from the dead after he had been bedfast for five months and the physicians in our home town and a neighboring city had said he was dying.

For more than twenty-five years it has been a joy to express appreciation and gratitude for Christian Science, on several occasions, at the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. I now desire to present my written testimony, hoping, in a more expansive way, to tell something of the great benefits that have come to me through my years of study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy.

Although this testimony is being given at rather a late date, there has constantly been in my consciousness a feeling of deep gratitude for the beautiful healing I had some years ago. I retired one evening feeling physically well, but with a great sense of mental depression.

The healing power of Christian Science has been proved to me many times, and I wish to express my gratitude and acknowledge through these pages what it has done for me. A few years ago I started attending the Christian Science church.
