Our Clerk, Laurie Richardson, has notified the Board of Directors of her plan to step away from her position as Clerk and return to her home in Missouri. We have all been truly blessed to have her thoughtful metaphysics, evident love of The Mother Church, care of its members, and guidance of the Clerk’s Department while serving in this capacity the past three years. Laurie will continue her responsibilities from now until July 1. It’s hard to imagine anyone more dedicated to this Church’s worldwide membership than Laurie, especially considering the unusual needs of these past few years. We are immensely grateful to her and expect to see her around Boston through the end of summer, when she heads off to continue her teaching and practice of Christian Science from her St. Louis-area home. We have appreciated the support provided by Laurie’s husband, Rich Allen.
We are pleased to announce that Martha Moffett, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher from Minnesota, will join the Clerk’s Office as Laurie’s successor on May 29, taking on the Church Manual appointment as Clerk on July 1. The period of overlap for Martha and Laurie will greatly help the transition of this officer position. Martha has served as a member of the Board of Lectureship, as Committee on Publication for Minnesota, and in many other capacities for her branch church and the movement. We are overjoyed that Martha has agreed to accept this important officer appointment from The Mother Church. You may see Martha and her sweet sidekick, Anabelle, where dog friends gather nearby.
This beautifully gracious transition reminds us of this phrase from Mrs. Eddy’s poem “Love”:
. . . life most sweet, as heart to heart
Speaks kindly when we meet and part.
