Dear Fellow Members and Friends,
In order to facilitate a smooth transition, we are letting you know in advance that the Board of Directors intends to elect David Kennedy, C.S.B., of Naples, Florida, as the next JSH Editor. He will succeed Dorothy Estes, C.S.B., who has served in that capacity for the past three years.
Readers of our periodicals and visitors to JSH-Online have experienced over the years the progress and continuing development of these basic Manual activities established by Mary Baker Eddy. They are a primary source of inspiration and shared healing for members and spiritually minded individuals throughout the world. Working closely with the entire editorial and publishing team for these periodicals, Dorothy has listened for divine Mind’s direction on how to keep these publications fresh and "abreast of the times." From her first day in the office Dorothy has had a joyous receptivity to God’s guidance in bringing “newness” and “freshness” to these magazines. “It’s been a privilege to participate in responding to God’s direction and to the needs and interests of the magazines’ audiences,” Dorothy comments. She adds, with her characteristic enthusiasm, “I have loved serving Church in this way these past three years and am so delighted that David will be stepping into the Editor position.” Dorothy will again be devoting full time to her practice of healing and to her teaching.
David Kennedy is not a newcomer to the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald magazines. His first article appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel in 1975. He became a Journal-listed practitioner in 1976. He served as a staff editor for JSH from 1981-1984 and again in 1997-2000. His work at The Mother Church has also included serving as a regional assistant for Christian Science college organizations from 1978-1981 and as Assistant Manager of Practitioners and Nursing Activities and then as Manager of Practitioner Activities from 1984-1989. He became a teacher of Christian Science in 2009. And most recently, he was a co-editor of the book Boundless Light: Poems of Healing, published by The Christian Science Publishing Society. The JSH team and products will have the opportunity to benefit from David’s unique talents and long-term experience.
David’s election will become effective on June 30, and Dorothy will continue as Editor until that time. We are deeply grateful for both of these outstanding individuals and for their lives of unselfish service to this Church and to humanity.
