Dear Fellow Members and Friends,
Our loved Clerk of The Mother Church, Suzanne Riedel, has asked to return to her practice and teaching of Christian Science in Colorado this summer. Suzanne has brought inspired direction, spiritual alertness, and global embrace to the Clerk’s Office during the last three and a half years. Her experience working for the Committee on Publication and as a Christian Science lecturer prior to serving as Clerk proved very valuable in supporting members worldwide and addressing the spectrum of needs unique to their fields. Those who have served alongside her have deeply appreciated her joy, energy, and effective prayer.
Suzanne remarks: “My time at The Mother Church has been momentous in so many ways. Seeing a worldwide view of the Cause of Christian Science, the promise it holds for the world, and working alongside extraordinary, unselfed colleagues—all have invigorated my own prayers and practice. I’m humbly grateful.”
We are delighted to announce that we intend to appoint Barbara Fife, C.S.B., of Vancouver, Canada, as our next Clerk. Barbara has served Church in many ways, as an active branch church member, Christian Science practitioner and teacher, and member of the Board of Lectureship. She will continue to teach and hold association in Vancouver, as well as retaining her membership in First Church of Christ, Scientist, West Vancouver.
Barbara shares: “To me, serving Church is about loving each other unconditionally and embracing the whole of mankind in this same love of God. It will be the greatest privilege to serve our Mother Church and Christian Science in this way.”
If needed, while appropriate visas are being secured, Margaret Rogers, a member of the Board of Directors, has agreed to serve as interim Clerk until Barbara is able to relocate to Boston.
With much love and gratitude,
THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
