Dear Members and Friends,
Our dear friend and colleague Robin Hoagland asked to complete her service as a member of the Christian Science Board of Directors at the end of December 2021. Over the years, Robin has given immeasurably to The Mother Church as Manager of Practitioner Activities, a member of the Board of Lectureship, a Trustee of the Publishing Society, and as a Director. While it is easy to list the offices she has held, the more significant point to share is how much it has meant to those who have worked with her day in and day out to be embraced by her strong metaphysics, sense of humor, intelligence, and commitment to being inclusive. These qualities, so evident in Robin, have made serving with her a joy and privilege. We rejoice to know she will continue to bring these blessings to her healing practice, teaching, branch church involvement, and ongoing contributions to the Church’s periodicals.
As Robin moves forward, it is a joy to announce that Mary Alice Rose, from Brookeville, Maryland, USA, will be joining the Board of Directors. She comes with strong experience in serving the Cause of Christian Science as a practitioner, teacher, lecturer, and Committee on Publication for Maryland. For the last year or so, she has also been serving The Mother Church as Chief Information Officer, where her practical application of metaphysical ideas has greatly helped to unify and harmonize many significant initiatives.
Prior to these experiences, Mary Alice applied her engineering and science background to various positions, culminating in managing other engineers and scientists in the development and maintenance of the ground system for the Hubble Space Telescope. In all these experiences, she has relied on prayer as “her constant guiding and motivating force,” as she stated in her lecturer’s biography. She added, “I ultimately concluded that the most cutting-edge research, and the most valuable to society, was in the Science of Christianity.”
With much gratitude for God’s continuity of good, we thank Robin for her selfless dedication to the Cause of Christian Science. Our thanks extend to her husband, John, and their family for their faithful support of her work.
We are so grateful that Mary Alice, with the support of her husband, Rick Parry, is willing and God-readied to take this step to aid the “holiest of all causes” (Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 177).
With love and gratitude,
The Christian Science Board of Directors
