Writing: making oneself available to God

- Editors' Table

Editor’s Note: This week we’ve chosen to guide readers to this article by Barbara Vining, first published in the August 1992 Journal. This shows how timeless the ideas are about writing for the periodicals. Enjoy!

A funny thing happens on the way to completing a metaphysical article for the Christian Science publications: transformation takes place in the thinking and character of the writer!

Writing an article may not always come easily, even though my own love for Christian Science and for mankind has compelled me over and over again to make the effort to do so. Over the years, when articles have been published, I’ve been grateful for the blessings accruing to others. But the blessings accruing to this writer, through the spiritual discipline imposed by the writing process, are reason enough to provide quiet, uninterrupted time for myself each day for writing.
