Testimonies of Healing

I am indeed grateful for Christian Science. Through the study and application of this new-old truth my eyesight has been completely restored.

I wish to give my testimony of healing, first in gratitude to God, then to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and also that it may be a cup of cold water in Christ's name to some one who thirsts for the truth.

When I first heard about Christian Science, a few years ago, I was an avowed agnostic. The teachings of the church in which I had been brought up had not satisfied, and on asking two old clerical friends some important questions as to God and the Christ, their answers served to get me into the vicar's pews of their respective country churches, where each preached a sermon at me.

In 1900 I broke down with what the doctors called locomotor ataxia, complicated with severe nervous conditions, and soon I was unable to go anywhere alone. I took a great deal of medicine and every night had to take several kinds during the night.

My family and myself have every reason to be grateful for all that Christian Science has done for us. One Sunday evening in May.

I should like to express my gratitude for a demonstration of the healing power of Truth which took place recently one Monday my husband was suddenly taken alarmingly ill. He was delirious, and seemed to be in such a critical condition that I called in a doctor, fearing possible complications with the state laws here, also because I was alone in the house and I had always had great fear of mental aberration, seemingly dreading it more than anything else.

For many years I suffered from extreme nervousness, caused by a local trouble for which I underwent an operation, but with no relief. Later, I was told by another physician that the operation must be performed again, as the first one had not healed properly.

For twenty years I was troubled with an eruption on the face. During those years I tried every known specialist through the western states in seeking a cure.

Eleven years ago I was healed of heart trouble, from which I had suffered ever since I was a little girl up to the time I was thirty-two years old. At that time the doctors had said I could live but a short time, and my husband and family were in despair when I was persuaded to try Christian Science.

With love and gratitude I testify that Christian Science has been a never-failing inspiration since its entrance into my life. It has taught me to look beyond material things into reality.
