Testimonies of Healing

I have often thought lately upon the Bible verse which reads, "Freely ye have received, freely give;" and I realize that I am not acting on it until I express some of the deep gratitude I feel for what Christian Science has done for me. When I first paid any attention to what I heard of it here in England (after a considerable sojourn in the United States), it was some time before I really began even to peruse the text-book, and when I did so, it was with a rebellious and prejudiced thought.

The experience herein related shows that if we are ready when the call comes to us. we can speak the truth which heals.

I am very grateful for Christian Science, because I am finding in it the prevention as well as the cure of disease. When I was a little girl I had a fever which left behind it rheumatic and other troubles.

Long weary years had stretched before me, with their joys and sorrows, their hopes and doubts, their successes and failures; but as they glided by. the book of life seemed to have an increasing balance in favor' of doubt and fear, sorrow and sickness, and at last the account became so sadly awry that human existence was no longer easy or even desirable, and the consequences were disastrous.

In giving this testimony I am impelled by gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, through whom release became possible from what is generally considered an incurable disease.

It was in a small town in Colorado that early in the summer of 1896 I first heard of Christian Science. Two sisters called on me, one of whom had been thoroughly healed through Christian Science of throat and bronchial trouble, after she had been an invalid for years.

I should like to tell of a demonstration which occurred in my household a year and a half ago. My little girl, eight years old, was supposedly exposed to throat trouble at school, and some days after was stricken with the disease.

I would like to add my testimony of healing and to tell a little of what Christian Science can do for mankind, especially when all material help has failed. I have found this to be true, that "man's extremity is God's opportunity.

I am inexpressibly grateful to Christian Science and to its Discoverer, both for what it is and for what it has done for me. Five years ago I left college with a severe case of nervous illness and was in a hospital for several weeks.

With deepest gratitude and as an act of thanksgiving to God I send this testimony of my beautiful and instantaneous healing, trusting fervently it may help others. For twenty-two years I was ill from a fever which developed into heart trouble and was aggravated by attacks of throat and lung trouble, and later on by a sharp attack which the doctor feared would be fatal.
