
Testimonies of Healing
The increased understanding of God that my husband and I have gained through the study of Christian Science has brought many healings. We have been sustained financially, physically, and mentally through the recognition that God is our ever-present Father-Mother.
My husband and I have found Christian Science prayer and trusting one's children to God to be the safest, surest method of healing. One outstanding healing was of our daughter's teeth.
Although I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age, I didn't actually begin to study Christian Science until I was fourteen. At that time I was extremely critical of myself.
Our family has been so blessed by an understanding of Christian Science that a written testimony is long overdue. Countless times I've felt such gratitude for the testimonies I've read in the periodicals that now I hope our experiences may encourage others.
I have found that total reliance on God for guidance and healing has resulted in blessings beyond the capacity of human means. Every discordant situation in my life has been healed through practicing the spiritual truths I have learned in the study of Christian Science.
One morning, I was struck by a car while crossing a downtown street. There were many witnesses to the incident, including two policemen.
Christian Science freed me from deformity after medical specialists had told my parents that only through death would their three-year-old find release from intense suffering. Intestinal difficulties, rheumatoid arthritis, plus a form of paralysis had misshaped my body until I was unable to straighten my arms or legs.
How does one set priorities for gratitude? As I started my list of things for which to be grateful, I found I could not. But I did realize that without God, none of these blessings would have been possible.
For years I suffered off and on from deep depression and suicidal feelings. While I never actually tried to take my life, the morbid attraction to doing this was so strong at times that I can hardly imagine physical pain could be worse.
Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth. (Psalms 26:8) Some months ago the Bible Lesson (as outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly ) was on the subject "Soul.
