Testimonies of Healing
I count as one of my greatest blessings my parents' application of the teachings of Christian Science in raising their family. Regular study of the Bible Lessons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, practicing what I'd gained from this study, and attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School laid a foundation of trust in God that became a first resort in time of need.
In Psalm 107:2 "the redeemed of the Lord" are exhorted to praise Him—to observe God's manifold providence over all His creation. His care extends even to the minutest details of life.
"What? Be a Christian Science nurse? Never!" That's what I emphatically stated several years ago. At that point I was a recent high-school graduate, working full time and going to night school.
I am grateful to say that, as a lifelong Christian Scientist, steadfast reliance on God as our true Father-Mother has brought proofs of His love and care. When I was a young child, through the prayers of my parents and a dedicated Christian Science practitioner, I was completely healed of infantile paralysis.
When my first child was a toddler we lived with my mother-in-law. One day as he was running to his sand tub in the garden, he tripped and fell on the rim of the tub, splitting his lip in half.
I did not become seriously interested in Christian Science until I was in my late teens. Prior to that time my parents were loosely affiliated with two different denominations, but I did not attend the church service or Sunday School of either.
My gratitude for Christian Science is overflowing; there have been so many blessings. The spiritual lessons learned in a Christian Science Sunday School gave me a solid foundation and a reservoir of healing truths to call upon in time of need.
Some years ago, my husband and I took a trip to another country. The first day of our sightseeing, I expressed to our guide a desire to do some climbing.
