It has been seventy years since I started studying Christian Science. When I was a senior in high school, a teacher gave me a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She said that if I would read it, my eyes could be healed. (I had a severe eye problem, and the doctor had said I would be blind by the time I reached forty.) I did not read the book, as I was not allowed to use my eyes for anything but my schoolwork. So I put the book away in our bookcase.
Two years later, through the prayer of a neighbor who was a Christian Scientist, my mother was healed after a severe heart attack. The neighbor gave my mother a copy of Science and Health and showed her how she could study it along with the Bible. I remembered my copy of the textbook and went right to the bookcase to get it. (The book has been my close companion ever since.) About a month after deep study of Science and Health, I realized that the eye condition had been healed. Pain and inflammation had completely disappeared.
During the many years that have followed that healing, I have been wonderfully sustained by divine Love. God has been my only physician, and I have relied on Him for help with all my problems. I am sincerely grateful for the Master, Christ Jesus, and for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science. (Needless to say, I did not go blind at forty!)
