Keep running

From the August 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A runner takes a great joy in the running, and in the measure of freedom and accomplishment that he or she has demonstrated through consistent practice, hard work, and self-discipline.

God's law of progress demands that we, too, "keep running" in obedience to His will. We need to be alert to the temptations that beckon us to ease in matter and would divert us from our Christlike efforts and spiritual progress.

Who among us has not felt the temptation to quit some worthwhile enterprise because the demands have seemed too exacting or beyond his capacities or desire to fulfill? Procrastination, laziness, and material-mindedness would constantly tempt us to abnegate some worthwhile goal in favor of a less demanding (and perhaps less rewarding) pursuit.
