Report on Annual Meeting

From the August 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness that God is Love—a witness that Christian Science is the Science of Love," The Christian Science Board of Directors said at this year's Annual Meeting. And the Board stated: "For each Christian Scientist—man, woman, or child—being a witness of Truth is a career with endless promise, unlimited benefits, and—sorry, but there's no retirement. . . . The form this year's Annual Meeting is taking is itself an expression of this effort to encourage and honor the individual nature of witnessing to the Christ, Truth."

These keynote remarks made clear that the present and future strength of the Church of Christ, Scientist, is determined by our utilization of spiritual sense—our devout, consistent efforts to hear, feel, and see Christ, Truth, as the only Saviour of mankind. The Directors reminded those attending the meeting that our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, founded our Church and all of its activities through this same spiritual sense. "We as a Board are continuing our earnest efforts to bring all the activities of The Mother Church into the closest possible conformity with the spirit and letter of the teachings of our Leader," the Directors stated.

Annual Meeting 1983 was held in Boston on Monday, June 6. A detailed account of the meeting follows:
