Testimonies of Healing
A few winters ago, I began to notice some discomfort in my right foot nearly every day as I strapped on heavy-duty boots and made my way through snowy Boston to work. I didn’t think a whole lot about it at first, chalking up the discomfort to my boots, thinking that maybe I had laced them too tightly.
At the beginning of 2013, a painful condition developed—first in one of my hips and then in the other. Remembering that my late mother had had a hip replacement, I became afraid that perhaps I was heading down the same path.
When I was in high school, tennis was a big part of my life. I competed on my school’s varsity team all four years, and during some off-seasons I helped manage the boys’ tennis team.
A few years ago I had a dream in which, while out on a walk, I suddenly twisted my ankle. The pain in the dream was so vivid that it startled me awake.
I would like to give gratitude for a recent quick healing that occurred this January. My wife and I were making dinner, and we were in a bit of a hurry.
I live in Tanzania, in East Africa. On December 21, 2013, I spent the day just fine, doing my duties at home, as usual.
Last winter everyone in my household began complaining about cold or flu symptoms, except me. Then, one morning, I woke up feeling feverish and congested.
Early last year, I carried my painting supplies down into a friend’s basement and realized that I’d done it without pain. I felt so free that I turned around and went back up and down the stairs again with delight.
One summer a number of years ago, a couple of friends invited me to spend a week with them at their vacation condo in Portugal. I was delighted to go, but by the time we arrived, I was feeling very ill with widespread pain and extreme fatigue.
Last summer after church, I went out to our backyard to set up a sprinkler on the lawn. I was headed back to the house, when a board that was lying on the ground caught the hem of my pants, throwing me face first onto the concrete.
