Spiritual Short

Big ideas in small packages

Life, a divine adventure

While we’re asked to observe social distancing guidelines in my community, I’m thankful to have open city parks and a lovely lake nearby where I’m able to walk.   The Canada geese and their precious goslings peck for food beside the lake.

Don’t “beat the horse”

Christ Jesus instructed his followers, “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” ( Matthew 5:44 ). And Mary Baker Eddy states, “The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love” ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.

Nothing is ever lost

When I discovered my wallet had been stolen in a supermarket, I felt so disturbed that I was unable to think clearly. In it were my bank and credit cards, and £40 in notes.

Humility lost and found

Last year my husband purchased us a second car that uses digital keys. There was no spare key, so the car dealer told him he should make an appointment to have an additional key made.

Finding Church everywhere

I have been thinking a lot about Church lately, as I recently became a member of my local branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I especially love Mary Baker Eddy’s definition of Church in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (see p.

Life’s harmonious music

As a Christian Science nurse, I sometimes encounter challenging cases. But I am always grateful for the immense spiritual growth that takes place in my own thinking while I’m helping another.
