Text: Matt. v. 20: "Verily I say unto you, Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven."
To debar the Jews from heaven was more to them than the excommunication of old Catholicism was to its adherents. It was death, condemnation.
