THE LONG EXPECTED DAY

From the January 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The day for which I have watched, and prayed, and waited long, has come with healing on its wings—the church, or dispensation of the Spirit. The Father's Age, in which Abraham was the representative father, has passed. Abraham and Isaac represented the Father and Son in two persons. Isaac showed forth the Son, the promised seed which was to come. At the close of this reign the Father and Son appeared in one person as Authority and Submission—Christ Jesus. But now in the "fulness of time" comes the Spirit age, leading into all Truth; the understanding dispensation; the "second coming" of Messiah, revealing the Motherhood of God, Divine Science, "without sin unto salvation;" three-fold fulness—Authority, Submission, Understanding. Hence sin, sickness, and death—the devil, Satan, and the dragon, must be destroyed, cast into the "bottomless pit;" the sheep separated from the goats, the wheat from the tares. The harvest is great, but the faithful laborers are few. Yet, "In that day, saith the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted. And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation. Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eyes look upon Zion. But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsel. For he shall gather them as sheaves into the floor. Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass. And thou shalt beat in pieces many people, and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth." The first dominion to the tower of the flock; but the kingdom to the daughter of Jerusalem. "For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever." The third era is the glory dispensation. And will it not be glorious when the last enemy Death is destroyed by Life Eternal?
