MATERIAL ASSISTANCE

From the October 1885 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A lady not yet thoroughly grounded in the principles of Christian Science, can not understand why a Scientist was not willing her patient, afflicted with an eruption on the hands, should bathe them in salt and water. She thought that God would not care if the patient did use a little materia medica.

Now we have unmistakable proof that material means have not been blessed to our redemption from disease, in the fact of continued ill health. '

God himself is a very present help in trouble; and when we turn to other help we reap the fruit of our idolatry, by being very poorly helped indeed.
