A Kindly Service

From the July 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord." So said one of old; and this is the sentiment of one who should be mentioned in connection with the church work in Boston—our usher, Richard Palmer, C. S. B., who does much, in his kindly courtesy, toward making strangers feel at home when they come among us. The bouquets he furnishes when our pastor, Rev. Mrs. Eddy, is present, are gems of floriculture. The way in which Mr. Palmer fulfils his duties adds much to the harmony of our Sunday service.
