CHRISTIAN SCIENCE AND THE UNSEEN IN NATURE AND ART

From the July 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The age is thinking and living in the material, but knocking at the door of the Beyond, the immaterial, and unseen. The underlying mysteries of Mind and Intelligence, misnamed Forces, are opening to us their vista of new glories. The great characteristic of the new era now dawning is, that it makes the unseen more real than its outward manifestation. It has awakened a powerful enthusiasm for things existing in the mental realm, as being the only realities.

It is the province of Christian Science to look beyond the objective, to a diviner sense back of it. In so looking, how often our Lord rebuked the blindness of his age.

Today we have a College to discipline the mind,—to decipher the underlying invisible Cause, of which the objective is the manifestation.
