A WORD FOR CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the July 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science is doing more for humanity than any other reform, doctrine, or philosophy has yet done. Its glorious light, like the Star of Bethlehem, is leading the Wise Men to Truth. It is separating the wheat from the tares, and raising man above the laws of sin, which have so long held him in bondage. It is teaching him to read his "title clear," to understand his relation to God. It is teaching man the truth of the Scripture, "If ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if ye, through the Spirit, do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live."

It teaches man to understand the truth of Paul's words, "For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace;" and the understanding of these teachings, spiritually, is healing disease and destroying sin.

Oh that Christian Science should be misjudged, and the divine power, governing all, so doubted! "He casteth out devils through Beelzebub, the chief of devils," was said of Christ; and the same misrepresentation is applied to the workers in God's vineyard today. Truly the Christian Scientist, patiently following in the footsteps of him who said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel and heal the sick," may ask, "For which of these works do ye stone me?"
