LOVE'S TRUE VALENTINE

From the April 1895 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.—Heb. xi. 10.

The poets sing of Joyful years,
Or cheer the heart in sorrow's woe,
But mortal Joys and mortal tears,
The way of all things earthly go.

The chastened heart from land of Nod
Awakes, and lays false trusts aside,
And finds in Love a budding rod,
A shepherd's staff, a gracious guide.
