For some time I have desired to send a testimony to the Journal, but the length at which I would be obliged to write and the inadequacy of words to express the benefits I have received from the study of Christian Science, has always deterred me. To-day, while considering this subject, I perceived the ease with which one can always state facts, so I immediately began to write a statement of some facts regarding my experience.
About seven or eight years ago my sister turned to Christian Science, and informed me that I could be healed. I had been ill with chronic stomach and bowel trouble for twelve years, but I was still interested in being sick, and would not listen to being well. For three years I refused all suggestions that I could be healed by Christian Science, and those three years were the most miserable of my life. This experience revealed to me the cost of resisting Truth, because in so doing, one turns away from his only saviour. My condition at the time I was healed was hopeless. I had not one thing I cared to live for, and had begun to look upon death as my only friend.
I had three treatments in Christian Science, covering a period of one week, and was entirely healed of all physical pain. In fact, things that I had not eaten all my life without distress, I began to eat without any discomfort whatever. The wonderful part of my healing is the fact that without the practitioner saying anything about it, I became conscious that there is no death. The prospect of living forever the life that I had known was the most startling thing that I could contemplate, and I told the practitioner that although I was healed, I would like to come to her until I felt more calm.
