I thank God that I was led to ask for treatment, for hay-fever just three years ago, while in the West for the summer. I was entirely cured of this ailment in a very few treatments, and was then treated for my eyes. This trouble, also, has been thoroughly met. While under treatment, I would look forward eagerly each day for the hour of my treatment, although I did not seemingly remember any word or explanation given the previous day, but I was simply drinking in the truth unconsciously.
I bought a Bible and a copy of Science and Health, both of which were new to me. I also subscribed for the Journal and Quarterly. All my old difficulties were gone without my realizing why; all faith in materia medica had vanished, my very foundation seemed swept out from under me, and to mortal sense I seemed to have nothing left.
I read Science and Health over and over, from cover to cover, and when I left for home that fall I had accepted its teachings and knew that Christian Science, was the truth. I did this without any questioning, as I had then willingly entered upon the strait and narrow path where God's presence is the reality, and does govern. With the disappearance of my ills, when I was first treated, I had gained, through the clear understanding of the tender and true Scientist, the spiritual uplifting which has upheld me ever since.
