REV. MARY BAKER G. EDDY in the text-book of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," declares that it was the theology of Jesus that healed the sick. This concept of Jesus' theology had been lost sight of, and is only now being found through Christian Science. The healing of sickness had been separated entirely from theology and relegated to the domain of medical practice, and, according to this edict, it had no distinct place in religion or in Christianity. This is yet largely true.
It becomes, therefore, an exceedingly interesting question whether this declaration of the Christian Science textbook is true or false. This book is shaking creedal foundations which have been believed to be solid for time and for eternity. In a few years it has drawn to its support many thousands of thoughtful and earnest people in almost all countries. In view of this, is it not well worth the while of other thoughtful and earnest people seriously to consider whether or not the contention of the Christian Science text-book is correct?
It is generally admitted by Christians that the theology of Jesus saves from sin. It is not, however, generally admitted that his theology saves from, or heals sickness.
