Almost ten years' experience in Christian Science has brought me innumerable proofs of the efficacy of the healing power of Truth, as well as many other blessings, for which I am most grateful, and my heart goes out in thanksgiving for a very recent experience. Before learning of Christian Science I had often heard my father say he would rather die than go to a dentist, and I seemed to have inherited this tendency. Living in an atmosphere of fear and dread, I became imbued with the same thoughts, so that the mere suggestion of a visit to a dentist would cause me to be ill for days, and when I did go I was in such a condition that dental work, however slight, was almost an impossibility.
A few weeks ago it became necessary to have some work done, and it was with supreme satisfaction that I found I could go without that awful fear. The dentist discovered a cavity so large that it seemed to require all his skill to save the tooth. There was also, he said, an incurable gum disease as well as a badly affected tooth, a complication which he was unable to overcome, and he asked whether he should extract the tooth then, or wait two weeks, when he would have returned from his vacation. I suggested that he let it alone for the two weeks, and during that time I worked on the case in Christian Science. At the end of the period I met my appointment with him, and after working for some little time he asked if he had hurt me, and a little later the same question again. When I replied that he had not, he said: "Well, the tooth is all right and the conditions perfectly normal." The dental work was then completed, and I still retain the tooth, the dentist saying nothing more about extracting it.
Daily we are being called upon for higher proofs of Christian Science healing, and it is through the unselfish love and the devotion of our beloved Leader to the Cause of Christian Science, that these scientific proofs of the truth of Jesus' teaching are made possible in this day and age.
