For some time it has been my desire to give my written testimony regarding a remarkable healing which was brought about by Christian Science treatment. Over two years ago, after I had indifferently studied and followed Christian Science, I came down with poisoning in my left foot. The attack was so sudden, so violent, and to mortal sight seemingly so terrible, that those about me lost their heads, and, as I was delirious or semiconscious, a surgeon was called. For almost three days he remained in doubt is to the advisability of amputating the leg below the knee, but as my condition improved, fortunately, my foot was spared. I remained under the care of this surgeon and of a specialist for about eight months, being in bed two months, on crutches one month, and without a shoe all of the time. Then, finding that I did not improve (in fact, I was steadily growing worse), and that the foot was seemingly too much involved and the condition had become chronic, the terrible intimation was conveyed to me that I would probably have to lose my foot after all. Then, and not until then, I am sorry to write, I turned to God and to Christian Science by writing letters of dismissal to the doctors, and painfully dragging myself to a practitioner, who took my case. Almost immediately after the first treatment I felt better, and slowly but surely I continued to improve, until at the end of six weeks the diseased foot was absolutely healed.
The pain and suffering are all forgotten, nor do I regret my trying experience, as my feet are now on the rock and I am a better man. I venerate that dear woman who has revealed the truth to mankind, and I daily hunger for more understanding of Truth, and shall always be thankful.
