It is with deep thankfulness that I write this testimony. For twenty years I have been a trained nurse, and when I went to Christian Science for help I did not believe it would heal me, but I went to please my daughter, as for a number of years my health had been failing. I had been in hospital eight times in seven years, and had gone through two capital operations. Being unable to work, and seeing nothing but suffering ahead, I thought that to end my life would be the simplest way out. Then Christian Science came to me. and I am very grateful for the changed views of life which I have gained. Three days after my first treatment. I undertook the nursing of a very serious case, and remained there five weeks, a Christian Science practitioner treating me. I have earned my living ever since.
In October, 1909, while heating some nourishment over an alcohol lamp, the lamp exploded, throwing the burning alcohol over my face, neck, and clothes. My eyebrows and eyelashes were burned, also the inside of my mouth and throat. It was an hour before I could reach the practitioner by telephone, as she was thirty miles away, but in five minutes after the treatment began I suffered no more pain and could see perfectly. In ten days the wounds were all healed, in fourteen days there were no scars, and in a few weeks my eyelashes and eyebrows had grown again. I am indeed grateful to God, also to dear Mrs. Eddy, whose teachings have made life appear in a new light.
