After suffering for years with asthma, hay-fever, and catarrh, supposedly inherited, I was healed through Christian Science. Three years have passed and I have had no return of it. I had tried all kinds of medicines, and several physicians had advised change of climate. As I was a traveling salesman, and my territory covered several different climates, I knew there was no relief in that, for I was getting worse all the time. Life held no interest for me whatever, and I often thought if I could make provision for my family I would end it all.
On one of my trips I paid a visit to my mother, whom I had not seen for eight years, thinking at the time it would be my last visit. After telling her of my condition, she arose and brought a book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and said: "My son, what you need is the truth, and it is in this book. God never created sickness, and you do not have to be sick." I did not say much to her, because I could not see how the reading of that book could help me when physicians and medicines had failed. On my arrival home, however, I attended my first Christian Science service, and it appealed to me directly, so much so that I immediately ordered a copy of the text-book, and after reading and studying it three weeks, I found that I was healed, not only of physical ailments, but of many false beliefs.
With the understanding thus gained, my reading of the Bible is now a delight, whereas before it was only read as a duty. My benefits have been numerous since coming into Christian Science, and I am truly thankful for all these blessings.— Chickasha, Okla.
