It is with a feeling of deep gratitude that I wish to testify to having been lifted, through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," from spiritual darkness into the light of Truth, the recognition of the fact that I live and move and have my being in God, divine Principle. It has become clear to me that God is omnipresent good, the only power, filling both heaven and earth, omnipotent Love; therefore there can exist no other power, and the seeming power of evil is error, illusion, unreal, as the Master taught nearly two thousand years ago. His disciples and early followers understood this, and therefore were enabled to obey their Master's command to preach the gospel and to heal the sick. This recognition of divine Truth was, however, long lost sight of by humanity, but was rediscovered by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has been faithful to the truth revealed to her by God, and has thereby brought infinite blessings to humanity, for through Christian Science we may experience heaven here and now, may be freed from sin, disease, and death. Any one who has come to the recognition of the truth loves and reveres our noble Leader, and proves his gratitude by adhering to her teachings and by demonstrating them.
According to the physicians, I was born diseased. I had reached the age of forty-six, however, when the doctors gave me up. Asthma, bronchitis, also rheumatism all over the body, and almost continuous headaches, — these, as well as other ills, had become well-nigh unbearable, and I fell into despair. But "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and Christian Science has led me into the way of health, peace, and harmony. I can now do all my work again, and in striving to give all for Christ, Truth, to love my neighbor as myself, I am daily able to overcome with good "all seeming evil. It always affords me much joy to read the many testimonies of healing in the Herold', to see how Christian Science with its blessings is spreading more and more in my native country, and how grateful they all are to have it in Germany, as they learn the glorious possibilities hidden with those who have awakened in God's likeness, and recognize man as the perfect idea of the one omnipotent, omnipresent Mind. Many realize that they may, although well along in years, like' myself, learn English and thereby be enabled "to read the "wonderful book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and through diligent study and by applying the truths contained therein, may free themselves of all evil, of sin, disease, and death — the "last enemy," as Paul says; that we must overcome. I thank God with all my heart for the blessings which I have received.
